Miley Cyrus has denied a recent foul-mouthed concert rant was directed at ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

The controversial singer hit the headlines over the weekend thanks to remarks she made while performing at G-A-Y club in London.

Before introducing her hit song 'Wrecking Ball', the starlet launched into an expletive-laden rant about an unnamed ex, which many presumed to be Hunger Games heartthrob Liam.

"Every time you get in your car, you're gonna hear my f**king song on the f**king radio, you piece of s**t. That's right," she said.

"So, I'm gonna tell those mother*****s that broke my heart – particularly one – to suck my fat d**k and to enjoy hearing this song for the rest of your life."

After her rather gross little speech made headlines around the globe, the 21-year-old took to Twitter to assure fans it wasn't about Liam.

"Just FYI," she wrote. "What I said the other night at G-A-Y had nothing to do with Liam. I was just trying to rile up the boys. I don't usually respond to tabloidy stuff but this isn't something I want being spread around.

"It sounded hateful but not what I meant. I never want hateful things being said about those I care about."

Former Hannah Montana star Miley and actor Liam confirmed in September 2013 that their engagement was over. They had begun dating after meeting on the set of romantic drama The Last Song in 2009, becoming engaged three years later.

Miley is currently on her 'Bangerz' tour in the UK, while Liam is in Paris filming scenes for Mockingjay, the final two movies in the Hunger Games trilogy.
