According to multiple sources, the royal and his girlfriend of two years have quietly parted ways, although there have been conflicting reports about what caused the break up.
Harry, 29, and Cressida had largely kept their romance away from the public eye, but in March this year, Cressida, 25, was seen attending an official engagement alongside Harry, suggesting to many that they were taking their relationship to the next stage and, dare we say it, looking to marriage.
It was that marriage speculation, however, that contributed to their split, according to outlets including The Telegraph, which quoted a source saying the couple found the pressure and intensity of interest in their romance too hard to handle.
An insider said: "It's very sad that they have decided to split but this is a completely amicable separation and they are remaining the very best of friends. This gives Cressida the opportunity to focus on her career but they would like to have a few days to be left alone."
Other sources have suggested that dancer Cressida's career played a part in the split as it would be difficult to juggle her theatrical dreams with a royal role.
Meanwhile, another view from over in the US sees magazine People claiming that Harry found Cressida "needy", but reiterating they remain friends and it was an amicable end.
Yet more sources confirm the split but suggest it might not be over for good, similar to when Harry's brother Prince William and then-girlfriend Kate Middleton took a break before reconciling and marrying.
"They hit a rocky patch and this decision is the result of that," an insider told Us Weekly. "Harry is the type to want to take breathers and then try again."
As expected, there has been no official word from the palace.
