X Factor winner Alexandra is stepping into the shoes made famous by Whitney Houston, who played singer Rachel Marron in the movie alongside Kevin Costner.
Chatting on ITV's Daybreak, a visibly thrilled Alex couldn't contain her excitement at taking on the role at London's Adelphi Theatre, beginning in June.
"It's a real honour to even be asked to play this role," she said. "For me, it's a new venture in my life, a new step in my career that I wanted to see as a beautiful challenge."
Alexandra admitted she's "nervous and scared" about replacing Beverley Knight on stage but can't wait to get going.
"We just started rehearsals yesterday and I go to rehearsals straight after this," she said. "I'm really looking forward to it."
"I've done a lot of acting lessons in the past year but I never realised how much I loved it because I gave it up for so long," added Alex. "Now, I get the chance to be an actress, singer and dancer all in one. My three loves in one go. It's a blessing."
Alexandra won the X Factor in 2008 and went on to release hugely successful winner's single 'Hallelujah'. Other chart smashes have included 'Bad Boys' and 'All Night Long'.
She's currently promoting new single 'Where Do Hearts Go'.
