Nick Carter has declared his love for new wife Lauren Kitt – and sent a message to any haters in the process.

Backstreet Boys heartthrob Nick married his fiancée Lauren in a beautiful ceremony in Santa Monica, California at the weekend, a day he described as the "happiest" of his life.

Yesterday, just before boarding a private jet, perhaps en route to their honeymoon, the happy couple struck a pose especially for their critics.

"To all the haters that thought it wouldn't last… I LOVE Mrs Carter," wrote Nick, adding the hashtags, 'I love my wife' and 'I love being husband.'

Nick and Lauren adopted matching finger gestures. Maybe not the most romantic of pictures for the wedding album but, hey, it got their point across...

There were certainly no haters among Nick's adoring fans on Instagram, who posted messages of congratulations in their thousands.

And, summing up what plenty of us are probably thinking, one wrote: "Actually, I wanted to be Mrs Carter but I think Lauren is perfect for you too. I'm happy for both of you."

Meanwhile, Nick's younger brother, singer Aaron Carter, has explained a work obligation and grounded flight were the reasons behind his no-show at his brother's big day.

Aaron had been performing at a festival in Washington DC ahead of Nick's nuptials, an obligation that was in his work calendar before Nick and Lauren had set a date.

And although he tried desperately to get to California in time for the ceremony, he was forced to admit defeat after his plane had a mechanical issue.

Sharing a photo of himself and pal Drake Bell looking thoroughly frustated at the airport, Aaron said: "Really?? Like really I DIDN'T want to miss my bro's wedding! F**k."

He later added that he was still stuck on a plane. "Really pissed off that I missed my brother's wedding today. I hope he doesn't hate me. I tried to get there. I'm sorry bro #technicalproblems."
