Peter Andre is leaving his popstar roots behind for his brand new album Big Night, which is described as a mixture of big band and soul.

The singer's latest release was inspired by a recent visit to New Orleans and his love of artists like Elvis Presley and Stevie Wonder, and will give the 41-year-old a chance to show off his voice in a different way.

(Looking very dapper on the album artwork there, Peter!)

Peter said: "I am so excited for you all to hear this new sound – it's so different and is the type of album that I have wanted to do for many years. Now is the time – enjoy Big Night".

Big Night will feature Peter's track 'Kid', which was the lead song from DreamWorks' animation Mr Peabody and Sherman, featuring the voice of Modern Family star Ty Burrell.

The next single will be the album's title track 'Big Night', which is available to buy now on iTunes as a single or when you pre-order the album. The album is also available via Amazon. All eleven songs of the album were co-written by Peter.

The star's last album was 2012's Angels & Demons, which charted in the Top 20.

Peter will support the album with a 23-date UK tour kicking off in September and featuring a 10-piece band. All tour dates and ticket details can be found on his official website.

It's been a very good year for Peter, who started January by welcoming baby daughter Amelia on 7 January, his first child with fiancée Emily MacDonagh.

Peter is also dad to daughter Princess and son Junior from his marriage to ex-wife Katie Price.
