Miley Cyrus' mum has given her a new puppy named Moonie to help heal the pain of the singer's dog Floyd's passing.

'We Can't Stop' star Miley was left heartbroken last week after learning beloved pooch Floyd had died while she was away on tour.

Fans of Miley knew how important Floyd was in her life and how much Miley loved him.

Miley's mum Tish has now given her a new dog, Moonie, but Miley's admitted she's feeling conflicted about moving on from Floyd so soon.

Tweeting a photo of adorable Moonie on 4 April, Miley said: "My mama knew my heart was broken and this morning I woke up to Moonie kisses. No one could ever replace my baby Floyd but this precious angel is lending me some fur to cry on along with my other babies."

Miley, 21, later confessed she was struggling to cope with the loss of Floyd, telling fans: "I wanna sleep but all I can do is cry. I never wanna go home to a house where Floyd isn't running and playing.

"I feel physically sick and I am so emotionally and physically exhausted. I feel like I have nothing else to give sweet baby Moonie. Maybe I'm not ready yet. But being alone won't bring him back to me. I'm at a loss I don't know what to do. I. Want. My. Friend. Back."

Miley later added that she felt "torn" as she loved cuddling with new pup Moonie but wasn't sure if she's ready to love again.

"Just don't know if it's too soon," she added. "I still have so much love to give my Floydy. But I just gotta take it one day at a time and take in all the love little Moonie is giving me."
