Sam is set to wave goodbye at the end of this series, which finishes on Wednesday night, however she will not be gone for good.
According to a TOWIE insider, Sam will be returning to the ITV2 show when her sister Billie gives birth to her first child later this year.
Billie, who is expecting a baby girl with her fiancé Greg Shepherd, will apparently continue to star in TOWIE even though Sam is leaving.
A source tells Reveal: "Sam has decided to leave TOWIE at the end of this series, however this won't be the last we see of her.
"The plan is for Sam to return for a few episodes in the next series when Billie has the baby.
"Billie wants to stay put and the door will always be left open for Sam for future appearances."
Sam has starred in TOWIE since the first series launched in October 2011. She made her first appearances with her good friends Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge.
At first, Sam found herself involved in a love triangle between Mark Wright and Lauren Goodger before later getting engaged to Joey Essex in Dubai.
In January, Sam appeared as a contestant in Celebrity Big Brother, however her stint in the famous house was blighted by illness.
Last month, Sam confirmed that she had been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and was later seen discussing it on TOWIE.
Sam is one of the few remaining originals left in TOWIE. James 'Arg' Argent, Jessica Wright and Nanny Pat are now among the last cast members in the show from the original line-up.
