It has since been reported that Simon wants to make Tamera the British version of Rihanna.
According to today's The Sun On Sunday, he thought she had big potential during last year's The X Factor.
A source says: "Simon was always incredibly keen on Tamera - he's been a huge fan."
Teenager Tamera took part in last year's talent show, but failed to make it to the final after consistently forgetting her lyrics during performances.
She is currently performing on The X Factor Live Tour alongside her boyfriend Sam Callahan, who she met on the show.
Tamera's Twitter followers flooded her page with congratulatory messages, with one fan saying: "Hard work paid off. Well done Tamera."
Another paid tribute to Tamera with the message: "You are so talented and you inspire me so much. When I'm 16, I'm going to audition for The X Factor."
