Susanna, who currently works for BBC Breakfast, admitted at the TRIC Awards in London yesterday (11 March) that it has been "tough" but that she and Dominic are "sorting it out".
Speaking to The Mirror, Susanna said: "I'm still talking to Dom. He is one of my best friends in the world. It has been tough but we are sorting it out. He is a great dad to the kids."
Last month, Susanna confirmed that she and Dominic had broken up after 15 years together.
The couple have three children and, in a statement, Susanna's rep said: "The welfare of their children remains paramount for both of them at this time."
Susanna was pictured in a pretty black dress and smart jacket as she arrived at the plush Grosvenor House Hotel yesterday afternoon and smiled for the cameras outside.
The journalist later hinted at her split after being presented with the award for Newsreader Of The Year.
She told the audience: "Well, it's been a couple of weeks and this is definitely a highlight."
Following her split, it was announced that Susanna will be leaving the BBC to co-host new ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain, which will replace Daybreak when it launches later this year.
