Tennis player Ryan had joined Kaley while she was in the Big Apple to promote the hit sitcom, in which she plays waitress Penny.
While doing the interview rounds, blonde Kaley confirmed she'd taken her husband's last name.
"I was so happy," she said on CBS' This Morning. "I felt I really wanted to do that. I felt it was a respectful thing to do and it happens to be an adorable last name, which helps!"
Kaley and Ryan married on New Year's Eve at a ceremony held in southern California. They'd only been dating for six months before tying the knot but Kaley has said on many occasions that they both knew it was meant to be.
"I've been in previous relationships with great people that I just never saw that ending and marriage wasn't the right thing. Ryan and I met and it was completely hearts in our eyes. I get emotional talking about him because he is the most wonderful person in the world. I couldn't be happier. It's meant to be."
Kaley and Ryan jetted back home to Los Angeles on Wednesday (26 February), wearing matching hats at the airport to keep a low-profile.
