Katy Perry has been defended by Moschino designer Jeremy Scott after reports claimed she was booed at his Milan Fashion Week show for turning up late.

'Dark Horse' singer Katy and fellow pop star Rita Ora were special guests at the Moschino runway presentation on 20 February, where they opened the highly anticipated show by parading down the catwalk.

Reports – and video – later surfaced showing Katy being booed as she posed for pictures on the catwalk, with some outlets claiming it's because she turned up nearly an hour late for the event.

Moschino designer Jeremy, however, has defended his star guest, tweeting: "YO WAIT A SEC WE WERENT WAITING ON @katyperry TO START THE @MOSCHINO SHOW WE WERE WAITING ON MODELS WHO WERE LATE ! CHECK YO FACTS FOOLZ !!! (sic).:"

Katy herself added: "I think maybe it was the language barrier cause we don't speak Italian but we DO speak @Moschino @ITSJEREMYSCOTT."

A source backed these claims in a chat with Us Weekly, saying Katy arrived at the show at "the time she was told to come."

Katy jetted to Milan from London where she'd performed at the Brit Awards 2014.

The 'Roar' singer put on a neon Egyptian-themed performance of latest single 'Dark Horse', but unfortunately lost out to New Zealand teenager Lorde in the 'Best International Female' category.
