The 54-year-old TV star became a dad for the first time on Valentine's Day when his girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth to their first child together.
After naming the newborn Eric, after Simon's late father, the emotional new parent reportedly said to his son: "I've waited all my life for you." Ahh, bless!
According to today's Sun On Sunday, a tearful Simon whispered the words into Eric's tiny little ear.
The newspaper also says that Eric's middle name is Philip, thought to be a tribute to friend Sir Philip Green, and that Simon has taken to fatherhood 'like a natural' since the birth at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
Simon announced the birth via Twitter yesterday.
He wrote: "Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome.
"Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages."
Stars including Simon's fellow Britain's Got Talent judges all took to social media to express their joy.
David Walliams joked: "Huge congratulations to @SimonCowell and Lauren Silverman on the birth of their son. They have named him David Sinitta Louis-Walsh Cowell."
Piers Morgan shared a photo of a young Simon with his dad Eric with the message: "A young Simon Cowell with his father Eric, who he adored... lovely tribute to name his son after him."
