Music mogul Simon, who is expecting a baby boy with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, spoke about the impending arrival at the London auditions of Britain's Got Talent on Tuesday (11 February).
"I'm not nervous about the new arrival," Simon tells Reveal. "Everyone else around me is more nervous than I am!
"Maybe that will change once it happens, but right now, I'm cool about it."
Simon has also been thinking about who will be a suitable replacement for him if he has to leave the BGT auditions to be by Lauren's side, as she is due to give birth this month.
"Would Louis Walsh say yes?," Simon asks us. "I was thinking Carmen Electra because Amanda really liked her."
SImon, 54, who confirmed that he would bring up his son in the UK and America - where Lauren is based - is currently up and down the country searching for the UK's next biggest star alongside fellow judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.
Just a week after Simon announced news of his return to The X Factor, he's confident that his reality shows will produce some of this year's best television yet.
When asked about the current success of rival show The Voice UK, Simon sarcastically says that he is "thrilled" by their high viewing figures.
"Look, we knew they would go up a bit, but we'll see what happens when they go into the live shows," he continues. "To be honest with you, it only spurs us on to work harder. And it does tell you that people are still interested in these type of shows."
