Simon will be back in the hot seat as a judge having left the show for the US version in 2011.
Confirming his return in a statement this afternoon (7 February), Simon said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be returning to The X Factor UK.
"It's been three years since I last judged the competition and I'm excited to find a global superstar again."
But if you want to know who he'll be sat alongside, you'll have to wait a while yet...
"Despite all the rumours, ITV and the producers have not decided on the rest of the judging panel quite yet. You'll just have to wait and see…." Simon added.
Simon quit the UK version of the show when he took the format to America. The honcho was originally joined by fellow UK judge Cheryl Cole, however she was sacked soon after.
Despite a feud that followed, the pair have made up and Cheryl has now been tipped to be making a return alongside Simon later this year. We'll have to see if the rumours are true though!
Last year, following the 10th series, Gary Barlow confirmed he was quitting The X Factor. The Take That singer had taken over from Simon as head judge when he left.
Speaking about Simon's return, Peter Fincham, ITV's director of television, said: "It's fantastic news that Simon is returning to The X Factor.
"We are all very much looking forward to him re-joining the judging panel later this year."
The full lineup will be announced in the coming months.
