For most first time mums, it's perfectly natural to be apprehensive in the run up to the birth.

But when we caught up with Katie Piper last week, it was clear she wasn't suffering from any anxiety. In fact, she revealed that the birth "doesn't really bother me."

In 2008, Katie became the victim of a vicious acid attack at the hands of her controlling ex boyfriend, Danny Lynch.

The attack left her with horrific damage to her face as it melted away Katie's left ear and eyelids, leaving her blind in one eye, damaging her lungs, throat, arms, hands, neck and cleavage. Since the attack she has had to undergo 200 corrective operations.

And this is why she isn't fazed when the time comes to welcome her baby daughter. She adds: "I've been through lots of medical procedures and lots of physical difficulties and now I'm going through physical difficulties with an amazing outcome so it doesn't really bother me.

"I definitely feel my life right now is at a high point compared to the extreme lows definitely. I'm really enjoying what I'm doing as a career, I'm thrilled the foundation is going from strength to strength.

"Personally in my life I'm at a point where I didn't know I'd ever be so it's really amazing. I'm really grateful."

But what she does have in common with many other pregnant women, is the terrible morning sickness she suffered early into her pregnancy.

"Oh my goodness, I felt like I was hungover all the time!" she laughed. "That was quite bad."

The third trimester is also driving her "crazy". She's constantly hungry and revealed to her 200,000 Twitter followers, that her little one's so strong she "nearly pushes my hand off when I rest it on the bump!"

Katie, 30, who is expecting a baby girl with her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, James, hasn't even had time to slow down when it comes to work commitments, and admits that sometimes she forgets she's pregnant and still has a lot of planning to do.

Ahead of Katie's new TV series Bodyshockers, which explores the craze of body modification, she admits: "I've thought in the back of my head, 'Oh, I'm pregnant' but then I'm working all the time so I haven't actually started to plan for any of it yet."
