The handsome actor was snapped holding his Thor hammer, which is called Mjölnir, at Narita International Airport on Saturday (25 January) after jetting into the country to promote (appropriately) the Thor sequel.
Looking every inch the superhero, the 30-year-old delighted fans by posing for photographs inside the terminal while hoisting the magical hammer high above his head.
He later brought the hammer with him to the movie's Japanese premiere, where he switched his comfy flight clothes for a dapper suit.
Thor: The Dark World opened in UK cinemas last year. The follow-up to 2011's Thor, the movie reunited Chris with castmates including Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston.
Chris appeared to have left pregnant wife Elsa Pataky at home in Los Angeles with their daughter India Rose, one.
The couple confirmed earlier this month that Spanish actress Elsa is pregnant with twins although they've not shared the sex of their babies yet.
Chris' visit to Japan comes after he helped announce this year's Oscar nominations in a live telecast on 16 January.
