Liz, who was shown the door on Wednesday night, has claimed that Sam has been feeling poorly, meaning Big Brother has "let her stay in bed" on some days.
Earlier this week, CBB bosses confirmed that Sam had been treated with anti-allergy medicine after her face mysteriously swelled up. It has also been reported that Sam was suffering from an "upset stomach".
Speaking to the Daily Star, Liz said: "Sam has been accused of being quiet and boring but there is a reason. She has been ill for two weeks.
"Some days she was so bad they let her stay in bed because she was really sick. She has a virus. It hasn't helped her time in the house."
Following Sam's allergy scare, CBB producers contacted her mother Sue to reassure her of her daughter's wellbeing.
Her TOWIE pal Ferne McCann then tweeted: "Just got news from Sam's mummy Sue that Sam is on the mend. Her face swelling is going down [and] she's apparently in good spirits. Ferne x."
The family have not spoken out since Liz's claims.
Tonight, Ollie Locke, Luisa Zissman, Linda Nolan, Lee Ryan and Jim Davidson all face eviction.
