The Wanted have announced that they will take a break after their current tour "to pursue personal endeavours".

The boyband announced the news in a statement on their website last night (22 January) but promised fans that they have not split for good and will "continue on as The Wanted".

Siva Kaneswaran, Max George, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker will take a break after their 'Word of Mouth Tour' which kicks off in February.

The statement read: "This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour's conclusion.

"The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as The Wanted and look forward to many successful projects together in the future. They thank their fans for their continued love and support and look forward to seeing them on tour."

It has not yet been confirmed how long their temporary split will last, or what each of their "personal endeavours" are.

After the announcement, Max tweeted: "Hey guys, so I know the news today was a big thing, but let me tell you this is not the END. It's the right time for myself and the other boys to have some time to try and achieve other things in our lives and careers.

"I can't wait to see everyone who has come to see us on all of our tours in march and I hope I see you all with me in my own ventures. I love you all very much, and I will say it again, this is NOT the END. #TWFamilyForever xxx."

Last year, The Wanted headed off to the States to appear in their own reality TV show for E! called The Wanted Life.

The Wanted have acheived two number ones in the UK with 'All Time Low' and 'Glad You Came'. The boys released their third studio album, Word of Mouth in November, which charted at number nine on the Official UK Albums Chart and reached number 17 on the US Billboard charts last year.
