The Twilight actress flashed a smile - and her new braids - for photographers in Park City, Utah on Friday as she joined her co-stars for the drama's world premiere.
In Camp X-Ray, Kristen plays a young military woman called Amy Cole who works as a guard at Guantanamo Bay. The plot follows the bond she forms with a suspected terrorist who has been held there for eight years.
To prepare for the role, which is very different to ones she's taken on before, the star spent time with a real life Marine and watched documentaries on Guantanamo.
It marks the 23-year-old's first big screen appearance since the Twilight franchise wrapped in 2012 with Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
She told the LA Times: "It had been two years since I worked, but it wasn't my choice to take a break. But nothing had given me that compulsion, nothing that made me feel it was meant for me to do."
Meanwhile, in other Kristen news, last week her ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson sold the house they shared together to Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons.
The three-bedroom Los Feliz property had been listed at $6.37 million, according to reports.
