Rylan Clark showed his support for friend and former X Factor winner James Arthur last night by joining him on stage in concert.

X Factor alumni and Big Brother's Bit On The Side host Rylan headed down to see James in Southend-on-Sea during his first UK and European headline tour.

Although they both rose to fame on the ITV talent show in 2012, we don't think Rylan did any singing, and instead grabbed the mic to praise his friend!

Proving that their bromance is as strong as ever, the pair - who were both mentored by Nicole Scherzinger on the show - hugged on stage and hung out backstage afterwards for a good catch-up.

Posting a photo of the pair standing on stage, Rylan said: "On stage with the hubby last night #Backtothestart. @JamesArthur23 xxx."

Rylan told fans that he was heading down to see James earlier in the day on Twitter. He said: "Off to see the husband tonight ..... @JamesArthur23 xxxx."

But it came as a surprise to James, who tweeted back: "@Rylan Yeahhhh!! I didn't even know! You shall be wined and dined by our team my brother xxxxxxx."

James kicked off his tour at the beginning of this month in Ipswich, Suffolk, and will wrap up on 4 March in Warsaw, Poland.

'Impossible' singer James came under criticism in November after making a homophobic slur in a rap song. While he faced backlash for his behaviour, Rylan publicly took to James' defence.

James later took the opportunity to apologise while performing his current single 'Recovery' on The X Factor, telling host Dermot O'Leary: "It's been an amazing year for me, incredible highs paired with incredible lows. I've made some very silly mistakes but I just want to thank everyone who stuck by me through this difficult time."
