The Canadian singer kicked off his Christmas Day by breaking millions of hearts around the world with one simple tweet - but is he being serious?
Justin tweeted: "My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring."
Of course, rumours of his retirement have been circulating for a while, after he alluded to hanging up his mic during a recent radio interview. However, it was later claimed he'd simply been joking.
Whether his most recent retirement comment is also a joke remains to be seen. After his bombshell announcement he tweeted "Lol" only to delete it shortly afterwards.
My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) December 25, 2013
Justin cited certain tabloid criticism as a reason for stepping away from singing, saying: "They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle."
He added: "Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER."
We. Are. Confused.
Rather than retweeting any fans who had responded to his retirement tweet, the singer instead spent time retweeting those who were getting excited about his new movie Believe, which opens in the UK on 26 December.
He then wrote: "Going to surprise a lot of people this week. #BelieveMovie."
So, is he really retiring? Or is this tweet conveniently timed to remind us all he has a movie out? We guess we'll have to wait and see what happens...
