The two former flames were seen saying a tearful goodbye to each other yesterday (11 December) when Lucy broke the news that she needed to take a break from filming in a bid to "clear her head".
Following the episode Mario tweeted a heartfelt message to his ex, wishing her well.
He wrote: "It is a huge shame to see @lucy_meck leave Towie! I wish her the all the best in her next step and future! She deserves the best x"
Although Lucy didn't respond to Mario's tweet, she did thanks her fans for their support this morning.
The brunette boutique owner said: "Thank u all so much, Im overwhelmed by your support. I'm so proud to have been part of such a successful show for 10 series... Now it's time for some exciting new projects. it's all about 2014!!! Xx"
Last night viewers watched as Lucy was torn between her feelings for Mario and her latest love interest, Tom Pearce, who she enjoyed a whirlwind romance with after a hook-up in Las Vegas earlier this year.
In the end, Lucy's emotions got the better of her and she decided to temporarily leave TOWIE, walking off into the night while her Essex co-stars enjoyed the neighbourhood Christmas lights.
But even though she didn't bid farewell to any of her friends on the show (apart from Mario!), it seems Lucy still made sure to say goodbye to a select few off camera.
Once the episode was over, James 'Arg' Argent tweeted: "Hope you loved #TOWIEssexmas I Had a great night with @Lucy_meck and she even popped in to see my famo...Great cast member, Good Luck girl!x"
Meanwhile, Ferne McCann described Lucy's tearful exit as "epic".
