The two singers attended The Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Of The Year Awards 2013 With Vauxhall Adam last night (5 December) in London, alongside their McBusted bandmates Danny Jones, Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter and James Bourne.
And while having a noticeably good time on the pink carpet at the Victoria & Albert museum, they revealed that their supergroup name had taken some time to get used to.
Matt Willis, 30, (originally from the Busted trio) said: "We're just having a laugh. I mean, the name of my band is McBusted! That is the name."
Tom continued: "We've gone past the point of regretting the name and now we embrace it. Now we think, 'Actually it's so sh*t, we quite like it!', with Matt then adding: "There was a really sh*t list of names [we came up with] and this was the only possible one.
"Bustfly was one of course. I challenge anyone to try and come up with a better name!"
The fun-loving group of six certainly were embracing their evening together yesterday, as they struck some hilarious poses for photographers, which involved Dougie, James and Tom being held upside down.
But this isn't the first time McBusted have played up to the cameras, since they also formed a human pyramid at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiere last month.
The Busted and McFly members will be teaming up to go on tour together in 2014 and are finding the merge between their two bands pretty effortless.
Tom told Reveal: "What's awesome about us is that we started off as bands in the same time period and we had a real, genuine relationship. We've basically been in each other's bands for 10 years anyway and now it's just official."
Matt added: "We went on the road with each other loads over the years. We were around when McFly started and Tom was around when Busted started, so it's been a really easy transition."
The news of McBusted's tour has been so well received that we could be hearing some new music from the boys too!
"We only intended to release nine dates for the tour and we thought we were being cocky doing that," Matt admitted. "Now there are 35 dates, we're adding more this week and it keeps getting bigger, so who knows. We're just taking it as it comes. But I like this too much to let go of it!"
Tom continued: "We've always written songs on tour and we have a pretty lengthy tour next year, so hopefully that will spark some new songs."
And will Tom - who is expecting his first child with wife Giovanna - be playing the boys' new tracks to his future tiny tot?
"My baby has no choice but to listen to our new music!" he exclaimed.
