Ronan, who is currently a judge on The X Factor in Australia, confessed that he would love to join the UK show next year to replace Gary Barlow, who will bow out after three years.
Speaking to the official X Factor website, Ronan said: "I would love to be on the panel, to replace Gary when he goes. I've learned a lot from being on the Australian show and I love working on it."
Ronan, who is dating Australian TV producer Storm Uechtritz, also said the move would bring him closer to his three children from his previous marriage to ex-wife Yvonne.
"It would be difficult to pull away from Australia because I love the country and the people," he said. "But I'd also love to be near my kids, so to do the same show here would be brilliant."
With plenty of experience in the industry as a solo artist and as a member of one of the UK and Ireland's biggest pop groups, we reckon Ronan would be a good replacement!
Gary confirmed last month that he would not be coming back for the next series, after much speculation. However, it has since been reported that Simon Cowell is hoping to bag Rita Ora and Cheryl Cole as judges for next year.
Meanwhile, Ronan's bandmates, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham also talked about who their favourites are to win the competition this year.
Shane called Rough Copy his "finalists" adding that he loves "their passion" for music and performing. While, Keith said he was backing Tamera Foster and Sam Bailey.
But Mikey revealed that he was gutted to see Hannah Barrett get eliminated on Sunday night's result show.
He said: "She's an old soul and an old soul singer - and she sings the truth. I find her very distinctive in song and in character. I'd buy her record any day."
Boyzone are back on the music scene with a new album BZ20 and a multi-city UK and Ireland tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
As part of their anniversary celebrations, the band will also star in a special one-off music spectacular for ITV called, Boyzone at 20: No Matter What.
