Former TOWIE star Cara Kilbey has weighed in on the subject of Mario Falcone and Lucy Mecklenburgh potentially reuniting and says that she doesn't see their rekindled relationship working out.

The ex reality TV regular is all too familiar with Mario and Lucy's complicated relationship, having appeared on The Only Way Is Essex while the couple were still together,

And unlike other TOWIE stars that believe the former flames are meant to be, Cara thinks Mario and Lucy should move on.

She told Reveal: "Personally, I don't [think they should get back together]. When two people break up and then go back to each other I don't think it ever works. I think once you break up, unless you get back together within a few months, it just doesn't work.

"Lucy and Mario have been apart for a while now and they've been with other people too. That's not something you can move on from [if you get back with your ex]."

In the finale episode of TOWIE series 10, viewers watched with bated breath as Mario ditched then-girlfriend Pascal Craymer to confess to Lucy that he still loved her.

Although Lucy - who had been dating co-star Tom Pearce - admitted to feeling the same, she appeared reluctant to give things another go and now fans have been left wondering what her final decision will be.

But Cara couldn't get her head why Mario had tried to convince everyone that he was happy with Pascal when she wasn't the girl that he wanted.

Mario confessed his feelings to Lucy on the TOWIE finale

"I don't really understand why Mario was declaring his love for Pascal at one point and then he wants to be with Lucy the next," Cara added. "It didn't make sense, given that on the episode before we had seen him saying that he couldn't believe he'd met someone like Pascal!

"I wouldn't get back together with an ex, if I was in their situation."

That being said, Cara did admit that she is in favour of Ferne McCann and Charlie Sims' rekindled romance, as she believes their relationship is nothing like Mario and Lucy's.

She told Reveal: "I actually think they will work. I know I'm contradicting myself a bit here, but I just think it's different for them. I think Ferne is totally in love with Charlie and I think Charlie has come to his senses now.

"They've been together a long time and they broke up over one thing. He wasn't cheating on her in the same way Mario cheated. I just look at Mario and Lucy as completely different."

Charlie and Ferne are now back together

Despite Charlie's infidelity in Ibiza earlier this year, Ferne forgave him on the latest series of TOWIE, after he publicly apologised to her and declared his love with a grand gesture involving a panda flash mob.

The couple are now working out their differences and seem to be getting back on track.

Meanwhile, Cara has had her own relationship ups and downs this year, but says she is now ready to get back out there.

"I had a boyfriend this year, who I've been busy with, but we're not together anymore," she said. "I think when you're in a relationship, you're out of the loop a little bit. But I'm back in Essex now and back on the scene!"

The bubbly brunette left TOWIE last year, but still "religiously" watches the show, as well as keeping occupied with her clothing business, She's A VIP.
