Luke landed in the bottom two last night (17 November) with 19-year-old Sam Callahan and had to fight for his place in the sing-off.
The 17-year-old student from Devon performed 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' by Irish rock band U2, and his vocals left Adele impressed!
Taking to Twitter, the 'Skyfall' singer praised Luke, saying: "Whoa Luke Friend was ridiculously good in that sing off on X factor! I want him to win! X."
After the show, a shocked Luke simply said: "Wow!!! Thank you so much." The judges also praised Luke's vocals, with Gary Barlow describing him as a "unique" and "brilliant" performer.
Luke landed in the bottom two after singing Elton John't hit classic, 'Your Song' on Saturday night as part of the show's Great British Songbook theme.
On Sunday, Luke and Sam, who are both mentored by Louis Walsh, found out that they had received the least public votes. After the sing-off, Luke was saved by the judges vote, leaving a tearful Sam to bow out of the competition.
Luke later added on Twitter: "Thank you for all the amazing comments, that was so hard! But thank you all for sticking by me! Rest time for now... #loveyou #friendies."
