The 53-year-old Green Mile actor also ruled out a reconciliation in the near future with 19-year-old Courtney, after it was announced last week that they had separated after less than three years of marriage.
Speaking to E! News, Doug said: "When I took those vows with her, when we got married, I took them to heart, through better or worse, richer or poorer, sickness or health. And you know what? Divorce doesn't change that."
Doug and Courtney tied the knot in 2011 when she was just 16 years old after meeting via an online acting workshop. Their relationship was well documented as a result of their 35-year age gap.
Speaking about a potential reconciliation, Doug continued: "No, not really. I'm not banking on that at all."
Last week, Courtney explained in the statement that the split was a "mutual and amicable decision," but Doug admitted that their separation was a surprise at first.
"It kind of hit me from left field at first," he said. "I'll be honest, I really had hoped in my heart that Court and I, like, against all odds, could go the distance."
Courtney also opened up to E! News earlier this week, where she blamed their age gap for the breakdown of their marriage.
The Celebrity Big Brother star said: "I want to be free and embrace my independence and not neglect my youth."
Despite the split, Doug will continue to co-manage Courtney's career alongside her mother.
