Tamera received high praise from the judges on her first live performance of the competition on Saturday (12 October), after singing Chaka Khan's 'Ain't Nobody' for 80s week.
The judges told Tamera that she was an "out of the box popstar" and last year's winner James pretty much agrees, comparing the 16-year-old to international songstress Rihanna.
James told the official X Factor website: "The whole Girls category is my favourite so far. Tamera has the whole package, she's a beautiful looking girl - she's got a great voice. She's like a better looking Rihanna."
James, 25, who is gearing up to release his second single 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You' next week, continued to praise Tamera's fellow hopeful Abi Alton. He said: "Abi could sell a lot of records with the unique style she has."
Last week, James told his two million Twitter followers that he was backing 17-year-old Hannah to win the show. He added: "When Hannah sings, there's a real authenticity to her. The gospel in her voice is incredible. Her performances have been powerful, you believe every word she says."
