Former X Factor contestant Rylan Clark has pointed out a striking similarity between the 2012 series of the show and this year's series - the contestants sang the same songs in the first sing-off!

Last autumn, Rylan, who now presents Big Brother's Bit On The Side, found himself in the bottom two in the first week of live shows alongside country singer Caroline Poole.

Rylan sang 'One Night Only' in the week one sing-off in 2012...

Singing for his life, Rylan belted out 'One Night Only' from Dreamgirls, while Caroline chose to perform 'There You'll Be' by Faith Hill.

Coincidentally, last night Shelley Smith's song for survival was 'One Night Only' and Lorna Simpson's was...'One Night Only'.

During the show, Rylan tweeted: "Cannot believe it was me and @CarolynnePoole last year and they've just sung EXACTLY the same 'save me' songs as us!!!!!!!! #XFactor.

"And same result!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe it #shocked x"

Shelley Smith sang the same song in the 2013 week one sing-off!

But while some overzealous fans read his tweets and suggested a fix, Rylan was quick to point out that there was no funny business going on.

"No fix issue! Don't start all that again!" Rylan later added. "We all pick OUR OWN 'save me' songs. Just a coincidence they were the same as ours x"

What are the chances?!
