Cheryl Cole and her boyfriend Trey Holloway have split up, Reveal can confirm.

Girls Aloud star Cheryl has been dating American dancer Trey for just over a year, however they have sadly decided to call time on their relationship.

A report in today's Sun newspaper states that their split was amicable and due to a combination of long-distance and work commitments.

A source told the tabloid: "It was a mutual decision so there's no bad feelings. They want to remain good friends."

In September, Cheryl enjoyed a night out with Tre at an NFL American football match in London.

However, the couple apparently split in June and decided to go to the game as friends.

Last night (8 October), Cheryl hinted to her fans on Twitter that something was up. She tweeted: "Sometimes I just sit here by myself wondering why you're all so kind and nice and caring towards me. It's gets overwhelming. #soldiers.

"Thank you for everything I mean that from the heart. I love you. You're amazing."

Cheryl and Tre began dating in the summer of 2012 after he began accompanying her on stage along with her fellow backing dancers.

Soon after they got together, Cheryl admitted that she and Tre had a "strong connection" during her own one-off TV show Cheryl: Access All Areas.

She said: "Tre is a dancer and he is my boyfriend. And the rest you can figure out for yourself.

"There is a stronger connection and chemistry than you would have with any other dancer.

"To have that relationship is rare, to be able to dance with you and share those moments is pretty special, actually."

The couple survived Cheryl's hectic workload when she reformed with Girls Aloud for their 10th anniversary last year and even Tre appeared in the music video for her song 'Ghetto Baby' in December.

But sadly, with Cheryl living in the UK and Tre in the US, it appears their strong connection wasn't enough to keep the spark alive.
