Brian McFadden has today revealed that he would love to reunite with his former Westlife bandmates.

Brian, who is currently starring in ITV's Stepping Out with wife Vogue Williams, suddenly quit the Irish group in 2004 and has since admitted it was because he "had no life" due to the hectic workload.

The singer launched his own solo career, and his first single 'Real To Me' went straight in at No1.

His split with Westlife was well documented as being a bitter one, yet it seems he wants to build bridges and reunite with Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan one day.

Speaking on Daybreak today (27 September), Brian said: "I would definitely love to do something with the guys one day.

"I don't think it's going to happen for a long time, the boys are all going off on their solo ventures now. Shane's got his album both Kian and Nicky are doing television work and Mark's in the middle of making a record as well, so I think they're going to enjoy themselves for a long time before they'd ever think about doing something again."

Shane released his first solo single 'Everything To Me' on 25 August and Brian, who is set to release his next single 'Time To Save Our Love', insists that there is no competition between them both: "I really like what he's doing," he said.

"I wouldn't say there's competition because obviously we're in different times in our career - this is his first single out and it's all an exciting time for him, it feels like I've been doing it for a long time.

"We've got different styles as well at the moment and I think he's really creating his own sound."

Being on Stepping Out means that Brian is back in the UK. The star emigrated to Australia in 2005, so his two daughters - who he had with ex-wife Kerry Katona - are delighted to have him back.

"They're over the moon," Brian said. "It's nice not to have that long journey back to see them all the time and them coming to Australia.

"They're our lucky charms, the week they came down we won that night and then they didn't come last week and we were brutal, so they're definitely coming back for the final!"
