Rita Ora and Jessie J go head to head in MOBO Awards nomination

Pop stars Rita Ora and Jessie J are battling it out to be crowned 'Best Female' at this year's MOBO Awards.

Last night (3 September), the nominations for the 2013 MOBO Awards were announced at London's Grand Connaught Rooms and amongst them were chart-topping songstresses Rita and Jessie.

Both ladies have enjoyed great success at the prestigious UK award ceremony in the past.

Last year, Rita was nominated for an impressive four awards and walked away with 'Best Newcomer', while Jessie scooped up four awards in 2011, including 'Best Newcomer', 'Best Album', 'Best Song' for 'Do It Like A Dude' and 'Best UK Act'.

That's certainly going to make for some serious competition this year!

Also up for 2013's 'Best Female' are Jessie Ware, Laura Mvula and Lianne La Havas.

Jessie, 25, made a very brief appearance at the MOBO nominations party in the capital yesterday and stepped out in a chic black jumpsuit and gold heels before heading over to another award show bash.

Meanwhile, Rita was spotted hanging out in London and tucking into a late-night McDonald's with BFF Cara Delevingne.

The 2013 Music Of Black Origin award ceremony will take place in Glasgow on 19 October and hit-maker Tinie Tempah has already been confirmed as one of the headline performers on the night. He is also up for the 'Best Hip-Hop/Grime' award.

Other UK artists who have been nominated for a coveted gong include Dizzee Rascal, Naughty Boy, Rudimental, Jahmene Douglas, Wiley, Rizzle Kicks, Disclosure and AlunaGeorge.

Up for the award of 'Best International Act' are Ciara, Iggy Azalea, J Cole, Jason Derulo, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Miguel and Robin Thicke.
