There has been talk of the hit boy band getting back together for a special performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, where group member Justin Timberlake is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and understandably the fans are eager to know more.
On Tuesday (20 August), 'N Sync's Lance Bass weighed in on the reports and explained how the speculation might have surfaced.
Speaking on his SiriusXM show 'Dirty Pop with Lance Bass', he said: "This morning I woke up to a lot of rumours flying [around] that the 'N Sync reunion is happening after eleven years at the VMAs this Sunday.
"Well, let me tell you how this all came about. Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson [Video] Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we're going to be there performing. I knew these rumours were going to fly."
But although 34-year-old Lance admitted that he knew these rumours would emerge, he is still humbled by the level of support from 'N Sync fans and can't believe that the group's fan base is going strong over a decade later.
"It's amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media…[and] how many people are supporting 'N Sync," he said. "It's so nice to see because when we ended things [over] ten years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter [fan base]."
Following the band's split in 2002, Lance released an autobiography called Out of Sync, which detailed his time as a pop star and experience in 'N Sync.
Let's hope they can all reunite one last time at the VMAs on Sunday (25 August).
