The actors, who play Debbie Dingle and David Metcalfe on the ITV soap, confirmed the news last night but insisted they'll remain friends and continue to co-parent their son Buster.
Charley and Matthew met on the set of the soap. They became engaged on Christmas Day 2009 and welcomed their child the following year.
Announcing the break up, a statement from Emmerdale said: "Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have today confirmed that they have separated. They will remain friends and are focusing on their little boy."
Matthew added on Twitter: "Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. Unfortunately these things happen, and it's very sad. Buster is our main priority always."
The former Dancing On Ice winner has previously said having his son was the "best thing" that's ever happened in his life.
It's though both Charley and Matthew will remain on Emmerdale.
