Glee have paid tribute to late cast member Cory Monteith through a memorial card video released by US TV network Fox yesterday.

The Canadian actor (who plays Finn Hudson in the musical comedy-drama series) passed away last month from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol.

The cast and crew of the award-winning show returned to filming yesterday (5 August) and marked the occasion by releasing a special video in memory of Cory and his time on set.

The short clip includes various scenes taken from Glee over its four seasons, including a particularly touching moment between Finn and girlfriend Rachel Berry (played by Lea).

"Cory Monteith. Forever in our hearts" then flashes up on the screen, as the video draws to a close.

Cory's co-stars, friends and family are said to have held a private memorial the week following his death in Los Angeles to celebrate his life. Cory's on and off screen girlfriend Lea Michele was in attendance, as well as Glee's Jane Lynch and series creator Ryan Murphy.

Speaking of his passing and the influx of support she has received since, Lea said: "Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart."

Last week, Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly revealed that producers are planning to write Cory out of the show in the third episode of season five, which begins in the States on 26 September.

The episode will act as a tribute to the Canadian star and will apparently address drug use directly.

Glee stars are also said to be recording public service announcements regarding drug abuse that will be aired at intervals throughout the episode.
