The 25-year-old took to Twitter earlier today to compliment the global pop group and dubbed their video as "funny" and "creative". Max even named 1D members Harry Styles and Liam Payne as "entertaining".
One Direction debuted their hilarious new video last week which sees them transform into different characters. Harry plays 'Marcel the Marketing Guy', while Liam performs the role of 'Leeroy the Choreographer'.
Max said: "Just watched 1D's video for the first time. Actually very funny and creative. Harry and Liam, very entertaining. I now know who Leeroy is."
Given the growing feud between the two boy bands, it came as no surprise that fans were suspicious and questioned Max over whether his comments were genuine or sarcastic.
But Max assured them that he was. When one fan said "@MaxTheWanted isn't harry just the cutest omg", Max replied "very funny yes."
When other fans asked straight if he was being sarcastic, Max said "No hun" and "just being honest babe."
The rival boy bands have been involved in a slanging match dating back from last year.

Although it appeared as playful banter at first, their apparent dislike for each other became more obvious when they took to Twitter to mock each other's looks, vocal abilities and love lives.
While 1D's Zayn Malik has called Max "chlamydia boy", The Wanted's Jay McGuiness has previously declared 1D's Louis Tomlinson as "overrated, arrogant" and "insincere."
One Direction are yet to respond to the compliment, but watch this space!
