The actress - now 35 - revealed that her strong religious beliefs had kept her from wanting to have sex at a younger age and after having sex for the first time at 29, she decided to then wait until marriage before she became intimate with someone again.
Speaking this week on New York radio station, Hot 97, Tamera said: "I don't know how to explain this. I'm religious, so I waited until I was 29 to lose my virginity.
"You may not understand this [but] I did it, then I felt guilty, then I became celibate until I got married."
Tamera married her US news correspondent hubby Adam in California in 2011, after dating for almost six years and her wedding ceremony was documented on the reality TV show that she stars in alongside her twin sister Tia.
The former child star and Adam also have a son together, Aden, who was born in November last year.
