Nick Lachey has sent well-wishes to his ex-wife Jessica Simpson after she gave birth to baby boy Ace Knute Johnson last month.

98 Degrees star Nick was asked about whether he had been in contact with Jessica since she welcomed her second child on 30 June.

Nick, who reiterated that the pair don't speak, told E! News: "I certainly wish her the best and I would like to think the same on her end."

Nick, who divorced Jessica in 2005 after three years of marriage, has since re-married to TV host Vanessa Minnillo. The 39-year-old is also dad to their son, Camden, who was born September last year.

It's no surprise that Nick and Jessica are no longer on speaking terms, as he admitted in May that the exes haven't spoken in about six years. He also described their high-profile marriage - which was documented on reality TV show Newlyweds - as "another lifetime ago."

Meanwhile Jessica, who is also mum to one-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew, is engaged to Eric Johnson.
