TOWIE's Mario Falcone has responded to outraged fans on Twitter and has suggested that while cheating on ex-girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh was a mistake, it shouldn't be taken so seriously.

The Essex ladies' man admitted on Sunday (30 June) that he had cheated on Lucy seven times during their relationship when the pair met up in the park with their dog Bentley.

But it looks like Lucy's supporters were quick to give Mario a piece of their mind afterwards.

On Tuesday (2 July), Mario took to Twitter to respond to some of his critics.

When one follower questioned why the Italian tailor would even consider cheating on "perfect" Lucy, Mario replied: "steak at home but love a mixed grill x"

He then added: "Some people are so serious on here... Have some fun! I cheated and made my mistakes, I didn't murder someone!"

Mario was seen trying to shift the focus from his behaviour onto his former flame in the last episode of TOWIE, as he revealed that he'd heard rumours of Lucy making a sex tape with co-star Dan Osborne in Marbella.

However, Lucy was having none of it and quickly put the spotlight back on Mario's infidelity, branding him a "scumbag".

And judging from Mario's tweets, while he has his own supporters, it seems some people on Twitter might agree with her.
