Chris Brown took to Twitter last night (25 June) to "clear" his name after he was charged with hit-and-run and driving without a valid license.

R&B star Chris posted a series of tweets on the social networking site to protest his innocence after he allegedly rear-ended another car last month (13 May) in a traffic incident in Los Angeles.

Chris, who is still on probation for attacking ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, could reportedly face up to six months on each charge. Reports allege that the 'Kiss Kiss' singer could face up to four years in jail if a judge rules that the charges violate his probation.

The 24-year-old slammed the charges as "ridiculous" before protesting that he has "worked hard to be a better person."

Chris changed his profile picture to a photograph that shows him looking at the rear of the car, while on-off girlfriend Karrueche Tran is seen capturing a photo, and another female looks on.

Speaking about the photo, he said: "NO damage. Just a dirty car. Once again, I gotta clear my name. It's not a hit and run if you get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous.

"I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene. She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures."

Chris, who was rumoured to be back with Karrueche after they were spotted cuddling up each other in New Jersey, added: "I work my ass off to provide for my entire family. I've made mistakes in the past and have worked hard to be a better person."

Chris continued to say that he didn't "have all the answers" but pleaded, "We live and grow. Let me live."
