Kris Jenner has confirmed that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West chose the baby name North because it symbolises their highest point together.

As suggested yesterday, the moniker was chosen to reflect Kim and Kanye's belief that their baby girl is the best thing they have achieved as a couple.

Appearing on The View, Kim's mum said: "The way she explained it to me is that North means highest power and she says that North is their highest point together and I thought that was very sweet."

Kris has already spoken out to say she loves the name North, and she affirmed this on The View, joking: "I'm pro-North absolutely!"

She also pointed out: "You don't walk around calling some North West, it's North. I think they have a nickname, but I don't know what they have decided on."

Kris is now a grandmother three times over, as her eldest daughter Kourtney is mum to son Mason and daughter Penelope.

Chatting on Today, she said: "Everybody is good, the baby is doing great. She's happy and healthy and it's a really joyful time."

As for when we're going to get a glimpse at the first pictures, Kris was remaining tight-lipped, joking she'd have to "kill" the hosts if she let them see her mobile phone snaps of the baby.

Kim and her rapper boyfriend Kanye became parents to North West on 15 June.
