Little Mix have joined One Direction in getting the seal of approval from one of the biggest pop bands ever, The Backstreet Boys.

Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean sent a message to the X Factor winners via Twitter last week, confessing that he's a big fan of theirs and even suggesting a joint tour in the future!

He wrote: "Hey girls, this is AJ McLean from Backstreet Boys and I gotta say I'm a big fan! U girls are the real deal. Love the album!

"P.s. When are we gonna tour together? You're all so talented, beautiful and sweet. I hope the world loves you as much as I do!"

Quite the compliment, right?!

Little Mix, which consists of Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, are currently over in the US on a publicity blitz for their debut album DNA, which shot into the US iTunes chart on its first day of release.

They've been greeted by hordes of fans at album signings across the country, and landed their first US magazine cover with teen publication Seventeen.

As you'd expect, Little Mix were rather thrilled by AJ's words of praise, retweeting his message for their followers.

They replied: "Wow thank you so much that really means a lot! Hopefully we'll bump into you at some point maybe next time we're over here :) xx."

Backstreet Boys will soon be embarking on a new publicity trail of their own, as it's just been announced they are releasing a brand new single 'In A World Like This' on 21 June and an album of the same name on 28 July!

"We always want to top our previous albums," said Nick Carter. "That's always our objective. All five of us were determined to create an album where every song could be a single."

AJ added "Our goal is always to push ourselves as much as possible. We want Backstreet Boys to keep setting the template and raising the bar."
