One in 10 couples will split up after arguing on holiday this summer, a new survey reveals.

Not only that, 40 per cent are likely to quarrel at least once a day while away, with a quarter having a bust up in the first 24 hours – enough to put you off getting on that plane in the first place!

Apparently, driving holidays cause the most stress, and this is closely followed by beach and city breaks, according to the poll of 2,000 adults by Holiday Autos.

Blowing too much money and getting drunk were also cited as a big cause of tension between couples.

Almost a quarter of rows were due to struggling with bags and 15 per cent started while trying to find the way out of the airport!

Relationship expert Corinne Sweet, says, "Squabbles about small and insignificant details can often snowball out of proportion.

"It's important to learn to learn to stop an argument before it explodes. Take a deep breath and time out to think."
