Ready to give juicing a whirl? Join the Big Juice Challenge...

Not only is juicing an easy way to get more fruit and vegetables in your diet, it also improves your mental health and sense of well-being.

A juice diet, which is rich in vitamins, minerals and enzymes, will act as an appetite suppressant and help you lose weight.

Jason Vale, the self-titled "Juice Master", is the best-selling author of many books on health, addiction and juicing, and has been known to beat the likes of Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsay in the food and drink book lists.

Millie is a big fan of juicing

He advocates not just juicing, but a juice cleanse (living on nothing but juice and water for several days) to flush out your system – a trend favoured by the likes of Caroline Flack, Alesha Dixon and Millie Mackintosh. Followers of his plan are limited to five juices a day with moderate exercise.

The celebs also visit his Juicy Oasis retreat in Portugal, where a one-week stay costs upwards of £800 – ouch!

For those of you who'd like to lose a few pounds but can't afford such a lavish trip, a juice cleanse is the way forward… and a great way to help you feel bikini confident.

This year, from July 4-10, Jason is holding his Big Juice Challenge, where you can choose to do a three-, five- or seven-day plan.

The Big Juice Challenge is completely free to sign up to, and you will receive free recipe videos, a coaching video, exclusive offers and £80 off a retro Super-Fast Juicer, just for signing up.

Last year's Juice Challenge saw 126 countries take part and over 50,000 people sign up.

To give you a taster of what it's like, here are the first two days of the plan…

Five tips for juicing beginners

1 Put the most delicate ingredients, such as leafy greens and herbs, in the juicer first.
2 Focus on vegetables, as too much fruit will mean you're getting excess sugar, although one small apple can make a huge difference in flavour.
3 Include one to two root vegetables, such as carrot or beetroot, to add additional antioxidants.
4 Include one watery veg, for example cucumber or celery, to help dilute the strong flavours of
the other ingredients.
5 Consider adding back a few scoops of the fibre that's filtered out by the juicer. This will make your juice more filling.
