John Bowman, 59, had used the same numbers on his lottery ticket for more than 20 years and now they've finally come up trumps.

The ladder builder from Forfar, near Dundee, was over the moon to discover he'd won £10,000 on Saturday's Lotto, but it was only when a pal checked John's ticket that he realised he'd actually scooped a jackpot of more than £10 million!

The thrilled dad told The Daily Mirror: "I went over to a friend's so he could double check it for me and when he looked it up on his phone he realised it was 1,000 times that amount."

John then rang his daughters Lisa, 28, and Emma, 26, to tell them the good news before going to his local to celebrate with a pint.

He said: "The first thing I did was to look after my daughters and I will also be sharing some of my good fortune with family and friends.

"I want a home abroad, somewhere with plenty of sun, I also like travelling so I'll look at holidays in Europe too."

John's lucky win now puts him in the same wealth as stars such as Martin Freeman, Alan Carr and Olly Murs.
