But officers from Cue Police force in Western Australia found the tiny animal and took him in.
Scott Mason, a PC working on the force, found the little one had taken quite a shine to him.
He posted on Twitter asking users to send their suggestions for a name for him, and he has now been called Cuejo.
In fact, the pair are so close that Cuejo seems to have adopted Scott as his 'mum'.
The four-month-old snuggles up in Scott's arms to be fed, and even seems to think his shirt is a pouch – and readily jumps inside for a cuddle.
While he will be introduced back into the wild when he reaches 12 to 14 months, he is currently being looked after by Scott and a registered carer.
