Jackie Rogerson, now 45, spent most of the 90s desperately trying to get to a healthy weight through fad diets and quick-fix weight loss solutions.
Throughout her 20s, Jackie, from Wigan, resorted to extreme measures to slim down – from taking dangerous slimming pills to wearing a suit she hoped would sweat her fat away - but nothing worked.
At 13st 7lb, the hairdresser hated seeing herself in the salon mirrors every day at work.
As she'd been vegetarian since turning 17, Jackie assumed her diet was healthy. In reality, it was the creamy sauces and ready meals she ate that had led to her weight gain.
When one of her clients told her about Slimming World, Jackie joined in 1994.
She was chuffed that her favourite meals of pasta, rice and potatoes could be eaten freely on Slimming World's Food Optimising plan.
Ditching processed meals, she started cooking soups and sauces from scratch – and she was delighted with the creamy garlic mushroom pasta recipe.
Within a week of joining, Jackie lost 7lb, and she reached her target weight of 10st 1lb two years later. Going from a dress size 16 to a 12, she said slipping into a pair of size 12 jeans was an incredible feeling.
Jackie, who's 5ft 7in, also quit smoking and gave up her career in hairdressing to become a fitness trainer. She now also runs her own Slimming World groups.
To mark her 20th year at her target weight, she was awarded the Top Target Consultant 2016 award.
She said: "I love being able to say to people, 'I'm going to help you get to where you want to be and stay there', and I think that keeps me even more motivated too because I don't want to let any of my members down.
"To me, Food Optimising is just natural now; it's the way I shop, the way I cook, the way I look at a recipe – I always joke that it's as natural as putting on my red lipstick.
"If by winning this award I can inspire one person to walk through the door at Slimming World that wouldn't have done otherwise, then I'll be happy."
