What smell reminds you the most of Christmas?

The festive season is a sensory overload. Christmas dinner, sparkling decorations and classic Xmas songs to sing along to.

However, scent is often overlooked in preparations with only 3% of people considering it. Smell is in fact directly linked to the brain and taps into emotions to help form long-lasting memories.

ScentSicles® by Caption Fragrance Co. has commissioned research into the nation's favourite festive smells. Guess what has topped the poll?

Well, top of the list is mulled wine (61%), with its fruit and spice aromas, which instantly makes people feel warm and festive. This is followed by cinnamon (57%) and fir trees (54%), which like cinnamon, is synonymous with the season and reminds people of past celebrations.
