It's a tale as old as time. Woman and man walk into a shop, man moans and loiters by the exit, woman gets increasingly frustrated with his lack of enthusiasm and woman and man argue.

And when it comes to Christmas shopping, the fallout is times ten.

So one town centre is offering an inspired solution for the festive season – a "man crèche".

Now, visitors to Carmarthen's commercial district can drop their partners off at the OreKnot creative hub, where a world of shopping-free fun awaits.

Entry to the "man crèche" is free and while you fill your boots in Topshop and Urban Outfitters, he can indulge in sports TV, darts, table football and pool.

The service launched earlier this month and runs every weekend until Christmas.

OreKnot owner Nathan Carroll told the Carmarthen Journal that the launch was a big success: "Visitors were treated to a wealth of activities from DIY Christmas gifts to pool. There was also retro gaming and newspapers and magazines.

"I look forward to welcoming more faces over the next two weeks."

Tourism boss George Reid added: "It's a bloke haven."
