Somewhat bizarrely though, it's hipsters they want to sign up.
Long gone are the days of spies skulking in the shadows dressed in black. Wave goodbye to the impeccably dressed, suited professional snoopers we're used to seeing on BBC dramas.
Hipster? IT tech? Then GCHQ NEEDS YOU! pic.twitter.com/hMkLh1fdqJ— Tim and Ted (@timandted) November 11, 2015
GCHQ are looking for bearded, plaid-shirt wearing, and tattooed youngsters to help them gather information on terrorists.
As part of their recruitment drive, they've been spray-painting "GCH-WHO?" in hipster hangout areas across Shoreditch in London.
Sprayed onto public pavements, the agency has confirmed the adverts are real.
A GCHQ spokesperson told the Mail Online: "GCHQ is always looking to widen our recruitment focus to reach the people we would like to recruit and therefore we use a range of innovative channels for our advertising.
"We look at areas which are likely to contain a high proportion of people who we would like to recruit, in this case people with technical skills and experience."
